As a performer, he has been praised for his clarity and lyricism.
Rob Scarff grew up in Plant City, Florida and thrived in an otherwise developing band program. Since then, he has performed in such ensembles as University of North Texas’ internationally recognized Trombone Consortium. He has also been seen performing with the Brass Band of Central Florida and Florida’s very own Southern Winds. While in these ensembles, Rob has gone on multiple tours and performed in several conferences such as Florida’s Music Education Association and the Jazz Education Network. In 2019, Rob served as a social media intern at the Southeast Trombone Symposium where he got the opportunity to work for world class musicians from around the country. More recently, Rob has found success across the world being invited to perform in festivals and auditions in the following countries: Germany, Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Sweden, Canada, and Mexico.
As a teacher, he is lauded for his engaging teaching style and ability bring out nuances within the ensemble’s playing.
Before completing his Bachelor’s degree, Rob completed his student teaching experience at Hagerty High School where he developed the curriculum and taught five separate classes. His private students have gone on to earn Superior ratings from Solo and Ensemble in addition to winning a seats in their respective all-county ensembles. While completing his Master’s degree, Rob worked with the nationally recognized Aledo ISD and the Joshua ISD band programs just outside of Fort Worth, Texas. His students have been recognized through winning auditions in their District, Area, and State Bands as well as the highly regarded Fort Worth Youth Symphony Orchestra. His students have also been recognized through their solo evaluations, having earned the highest honor: Superior with distinction.
Rob earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Stetson University and his Master’s degree in Orchestral Performance from the University of North Texas. Rob is currently pursuing his Artist Diploma at the OAcademy Orchestral Institute. His primary teachers include David Schmidt, Tony Baker, and Martin Schippers.
Rob is based out of the Central Florida area and is available for lessons, masterclasses, and or performances.
